Air Tahiti Nui, a tool for tourism and economic development of French Polynesia:
Founded in 1996 by the government of French Polynesia associated with local private investors, Air Tahiti Nui's primary mission is to sustain the supply of registered destination to ensure the proper development of tourism in our islands.
With its tri-class configuration (First, Business and Economy), the company offers high quality services enhanced with touches that make Polynesian charm.
Several awards for the quality of its service and its crews, the company wishes to illustrate the quality of service it provides on board.
Air Tahiti Nui also meets the highest standards of aviation safety by submitting to the IOSA certification, the most restrictive in the world led by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational audit standard.
Some key dates:
- October 1996 : creation of the Air Tahiti Nui international airline .
- November 1998 : first commercial flight of Air Tahiti Nui from Papeete to Los Angeles in the wake of Papeete to Tokyo with her first camera .
- April 2000 : opening of a weekly flight Papeete- Osaka, Japan.
- August 2000: opening of the road Papeete- Auckland, New Zealand.
- May 2002 : Inauguration of the Paris - Papeete route via Los Angeles with the acquisition of a second device.
- February 2003: the fleet is growing and welcomes two new Airbus A340- 300.
- June 2005 : purchase of " Nuku Hiva " fifth aircraft fleet and opening in July links New York to Sydney via Tahiti
- September 2008: stop serving Osaka . The company focuses on its hub in Tokyo with two weekly frequencies.
- January 2009: stop routes from Sydney and New York for economic reasons . Sydney remains served codeshare with Qantas Australian company .
